If you’ve heard Dave Orr Band’s music or seen the group live you would know the band is not bound to any one style, yet at the heart of the music is that unmistakably raw blues guitar. It’s the sound of late-night whiskey bars, of musicians stretching themselves and just letting loose.
Rewind a few years, in his hometown Brisbane, Australia Dave was cutting his teeth performing with the kind of all out fusion acts Australia seems so good at producing – rock, psychedelic, soul, funk it was all in there.
As a session guitar player, Dave has toured Europe and North America. And it was while he was camped out in a friend’s 1950s caravan near Austin, the songs for his debut record started to really take shape. From acoustic picking to Fuzz filled solos, the songs not only showcase his guitar work, but song writing smarts earned from years making music.
During the pandemic, Dave connected with a rhythm section with some serious mojo (Marshall Kummer on drums and Ry Dill on bass) This new trio has been on a writing rampage and will be showcasing some brand new music due to be recorded this year. Keep an eye on Dave Orr Band.
