
Gene “Birdlegg” Pittman
Gene “Birdlegg” Pittman is an award winning blues harmonica player, a writer and vocalist, – a “natural performer with boundless energy and enthusiasm” (Gene Tomko, Living Blues Magazine).
Born in Pennsylvania, Birdlegg relocated to California where he began performing with some of the best bluesmen in the Oakland/San Francisco area like Sonny Rhodes, Massala Talbert, Haskell “Cool Papa” Sadler and Mississippi Johnny Waters.
Birdlegg was named ‘Blues Harmonica Player of the Year’ by the Bay Area Blues Society and was AMA Award nominated in 2021.
He has three albums. His self titled 2013 album was two votes away from securing a Grammy nomination.
Birdlegg has appeared at festivals including the Eastside Kings Festival, San Francisco Blues Festival, Blues Masters at The Crossroads, Lucerne and Blues as well as at numerous US and international venues.
