Joel Hofmann
July 9 @ 8:00 pm - 9:30 pm
A fourth-generation Texan, Joel Hofmann forges his career in the Central Texas music
industry as a singer-songwriter, live performer, and honky-tonk owner. He’s a lifelong
fan of country, roots rock, and rockabilly, and can’t resist the kind of country music
that was made during the early 1960s.
Hofmann’s songwriting style has been compared to the late singer-songwriter
and cowboy poet Chris Wall. As a musician, Hofmann’s played alongside Johnny Bush,
Shelley King, Bill Kirchen, Tommy Alverson, and Tessy Lou Williams, among others,
including the friends he brought together for GOLD RUSH TOWN.
In 2004 Hofmann purchased the historic honky-tonk Riley’s Tavern in Hunter,
Texas. It’s listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is a Hill Country
landmark for live music. Having welcomed to its stage Billy Joe Shaver, Johnny Bush,
Dale Watson, Linda Gail Lewis, Mo Bandy, Junior Brown, Jesse Dayton, Janie Fricke,
Butch Hancock, and far too many others to mention, Riley’s Tavern celebrates the 90th
anniversary of the bar’s founding (by J.C. Riley) in September 2023.
